A windy day in the city.

A windy day in the city.

Good Eats: Farmer’s Market.

Hey, this is my 100th post. Make it about a cat, eh?

While I was a’walking yesterday a cat ran up to me and was friendly. Huh, a friendly cat. That’s not part of the feline/homo sapiens deal. Then the cat followed me as I continued on my way. Since when do cats do this? This is not the first time a cat has approached me here. It happens almost every time I meet a cat. They rub against my leg, get a scratch under the neck and trounce away. This guy though, he practically jumped in my lap and made himself part of the family.

Meet my friend.

At the V&A Jesus receives some extra support.

London Town.

The prospect of recounting all that happened this past weekend is rather daunting. (But how ever discomposed I am I must compose this post! Ho ho ha ha, sleep deprivation!) The jist? The bus ride from Edinburgh to London is economical but lengthy. A span of ten hours shows you a whole lot of british country side but gives you very little leg room. Early morning buses offer a sun rise and splendid view of lambs jumping on their mothers to wake them.

The long weekend consisted of:

  • The Royal wedding of course. Huge (enthusiastic) crowds, large police presence, larger press presence.

Obama watched with us. Can you see the screens near the front of the crowd in Hyde Park?

  • Many museums (thank you Britain for free admission) including Victoria & Albert Museum, the British Museum, and the Natural History Museum.
  • A play or two. By which I mean (1) Hamlet at The Globe! As Groundlings of course. Hamlet may or may not have died within 5 feet of me. And I may or may not have been buzzing with excitement the entire time. Take a guess. And (2) A revival of Cause Celebre at the Old Vic. An astonishing production. Starring Anne-Marie Duff (who knocked me off my feet) not to mention Patrick Godfrey (who fed us that night and has been in a number of Merchant Ivory productions as well as a goodly number of fantastic plays and movies and TV shows and, may I add, makes a mean steak.)
  • Finding every public and park and garden I could get my feet to walk to. Spotted: backwards roller bladers, dogs chasing each other in circles, Peter Pan.

Kensington Gardens.

  • Mastering the tube. High points included the whole car becoming involved in cheering on a thumb war and watching a baby fall asleep in his father’s arms.
